About Me

Hello!

Thanks for stopping by the blog.  My name is Ken Braddy and I am a champion for Sunday School and the men and women who lead it.  My blog exists to help you.  I want to share my experiences, education, successes, and failures with you so that you can be the most effective leader possible.  I’ll pass along book reviews of books you may want to put in your leadership library.  I’ll post links to training videos and articles.  I’ll do this about once or twice a week…more as I have the time.

Sunday School is Alive and Well

When Sunday School is done right, it can be a highly effective way to teach the Bible, assimilate people into the life of the church, and engage people in ministry both inside the church and out in the community.  Sunday School is a place where the spiritual transformation of people of all ages can begin, or a place where it is encouraged and nurtured.

My Church Growth Experience

I was the Minister of Education at a mission church that began with 44 members in Sunday School, and I had the privilege of leading the education ministries as the church grew to over 2,400 members in the ten years I lead.  I’ve seen what an effective, well-organized Sunday School can do first-hand.  I’ve learned that Sunday School works IF you work Sunday School!  To say it another way, “the grass isn’t greener on the other side…it’s greener where you water it.”  You can pour water on your Sunday School and watch it “green up” and take on new life.  Ongoing training, weekly leadership meetings, a curriculum strategy, proper recruiting of volunteer leaders, and maximum use of the church’s education facilities can set the stage for a time of blessing and growth.

I Can Relate to Your Situation

Because the Lord allowed me to experience the rapid growth of a Sunday School that started out really small, I was there when we had less than fifty people enrolled.  I was also there when it grew to 100, 300, 600, then 1,000 and beyond…so I can understand and empathize with your Sunday School no matter what size it is…I was there at one time.  I realize that this unique experience was a special grace of God so that I can now speak to churches and leaders of all size churches.

My Education

Graduate of Southwestern Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas with a degree in religious education.

Pursuing my Ed. D from Midwestern Seminary with an anticipated graduation date of Spring 2016.

National Leadership

I now serve as the Managing Director of Leadership & Adult Publishing at LifeWay Christian Resources in Nashville, TN.  I guide the work of our editorial teams that create all of the Sunday School curriculum LifeWay produces for the church.  The Lord has given me the opportunity to bring my experiences in the local church and make a positive impact on the adult Sunday School curriculum LifeWay provides through the Leadership & Adult Publishing division.  I take almost every opportunity that is offered me to travel and speak to groups of pastors, teachers, and Sunday School leaders at churches and conference centers around the country.  Perhaps I could come to you and invest in your teachers and your Sunday School?!

How You Can Help Me

Please share my blog with your friends…the more the merrier!

Thanks again for dropping by,

Ken

    Ken,

Just learned about your site. Just read a few post and very encouraged by your wealth of wisdom and passion concerning SS. Just joined a ministry where I serve as the Pastor of Christian Education. A membership of 4500, but a SS of only 250. We’ve seen this semester an average of 468 and we praise God for that. But we’re looking to expand and grow this much needed area of ministry.

I look forward to your posts and any opportunities you may extend to share with fellow M.E.s who want to be faithful in their assignment. Looking forward to the journey. I just attended Lifeway’s National Black SS Conference a few weeks ago and gained some really good information there.

Excited about the journey and thank God for your willingness to be committed to developing God’s people!
