Ken’s 2012 Workshop Schedule


February 6-7, Dallas-Ft. WorthSBTC (Southern Baptists of Texas Convention) Senior Adult Forum – I’ll present information about the opportunities to reach millions of Baby Boomers who are becoming senior adults.  Most churches are not prepared for the coming changes to their senior adult ministries…is your church ready?  I’ll share information about evangelism and discipleship trends among seniors, and then join a panel of experts to address questions from participants as we dialog about how to more effectively transition current senior adult ministries into ones that will capture the hearts and minds of Boomers.  The Forum will be held at the SBTC offices in Grapevine, Texas.

March 3 – Las Vegas, NV -Annual Sunday School Director’s Summit.  This 3-hour summit will be held at the offices of the Southern Nevada Baptist Association in Las Vegas, NV.  The Summit begins at 9AM and concludes at 12 noon.  I will train Sunday School directors to organize their Sunday schools to reach, assimilate and disciple more people into Nevada churches.

April 21, 2012 – Brentwood, TN – National Sunday School Director’s Seminar.  Held in cooperation with the Tennessee Baptist Convention, this seminar will equip Sunday School directors to lead their Sunday Schools effectively.  This day-long event will be packed full of great principles for leading a Sunday School to become more healthy, and to be postured to grow.

April 28, 2012Louisville, KYTRANSFORM – The goal of the Transform conference is to equip every Bible study teacher to teach God’s Word in a way that brings about transformation in their members’ lives. One of the finest faculties in the nation will come together to provide a day of training for church leaders and Sunday School teachers that could have a life-changing impact on teaching in your church.

May 4-5 – Fresno, CA. – California Southern Baptist Convention – I’ll present 4 hours of training to pastors, Sunday School directors, teachers, and church staff leaders centered around the 2012 book Missionary Sunday School.  Participants will be challenged to think and act differently as they seek to transform their Sunday School leaders and group members into missionaries to the culture.  I’ll conclude the workshops with a session on effectively using the Sunday School to assimilate men, women, boys, and girls into the life of the church.

August 5, 2012Murfreesboro, TN3BC (Third Baptist Church) Annual Teacher Training event.  All Sunday School teachers will receive training from 9AM – Noon.  The focus of the training will be Missionary Sunday School, a new book by David Francis, Director of Sunday School at LifeWay.  Teachers will learn what it means to think and act like missionaries to the culture, and that Sunday School is about three main things:  One Mission, His Story, and Every Person (David’s three main sections in his book).

August 18, 2012 – Peducah, KY – Super Saturday – This workshop is for Sunday School general officers and is a part of the Super Saturday event sponsored by the Kentucky Baptist Convention.

August 25, 2012 – Union City, TN. – Associational Training Event – I will lead training for all teachers from the local association of Southern Baptist churches to better understand curriculum design and how a curriculum strategy benefits everyone in the church.  I will also host a roundtable with area Ministers of Education and Sunday School Directors.

September 28-29, 2012 – Nashville, TN. – Teach The Bible For Life Conference - The event will be held at the LifeWay Christian Resources headquarters in downtown Nashville with keynote speakers George Guthrie and Gary Bredfelt.  I will present a fast-paced, creative workshop for adult teachers designed to help them design and ask good questions.  The workshop is titled, “Asking Great Questions & Leading Great Discussion” and the premise is that “teaching isn’t telling…learning isn’t listening.”  If you feel stuck in a rut every time you teach, learn how to put another teaching weapon in your arsenal.   I’ll share the top ways to get learners sharing, talking, and learning
